    Doing the laundry

Sometimes an unusual shooting location can produce an interesting shot.

While visiting the Badami cave temples, I happened to look down during our climb up and noticed people doing laundry in Agastya Lake at the edge of the red sandstone steps leading down into the lake from the town. I zoomed all the way out as far as the lens would go and got this somewhat strange look of the scene below.

    Doing the laundry

Not quite abstract, but not quite real looking...

It is surely an interesting perspective, Manfred. And it works. Nicely done.

Communal laundry does build community. And a nice shot too.

Very good diagonal as well as the flow and position of the water sort of go with the flow of the whole scene. Even if those people are not there, this will still be a nice flowing shot.

A great real life image; I think one lady there caught you red hand

PS: no; she is looking elsewhere

    How distant you were approximately?

Excellent image. The lesson, surely, is about looking for that different angle/perspective on a scene to create something that is not only informative, but artistic at the same time.

So true, Donald. I find that a lot of photographers tend to shoot (relatively) horizontally and forget to look up and down.

A portrait / wedding photographer I know quite well always travels with a couple of different sized ladders in the back of his pickup truck when he is heading out to shoot.

Very nice Manfred! I love the perspective. It is too bad that you couldn't get down there for some more intimate scenes that would nicely compliment this image.

Another great diagonal image! I love the bare steps (image left upper) and the empty water (image right lower) contrasting with the intense activity along the point where these two bare areas converge!

Actually I did Shane. I just haven't gotten around to processing / posting them yet. These might have to wait until I get home.

Agree with what's been said. I really like the perspective and diagonal composition.
