Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
Nice image Bernard, I like it The grass in the FG is a bit distracting but it adds to the image and I don't think it is a good idea to crop it. Reducing the brightness of that area or changing the color of the grass to a dull color might help.

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
Nice capture, the structure stands out from a rather murky setting.

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
I agree with the others about the image, but I feel that cropping the grass in front would strengthen the image. It's a bright spot that draws our eyes away from the subject in the background (our eyes tend to be drawn to the light / bright parts on an image), and that does not help the composition.

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
I like the composition Benjy...if you can just lower the brightness of the image selectively, e.g., on the reflections, and the one at the left side, this will look better. Just my opinion...

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
I am guessing when you say 'hotel' its not the kind of place where the local kick up their heals on Saturday night (so to speak).
Good image, Benjy, and I agree the others about the distracting foreground.

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
Indeed it is not that kind of place. Or so I am told, but going on the "if you need to ask the price you can't afford it" maxim, I've never actually been there ...

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
Bernard,
I had a quick crack at editing your image to try and bring the hotel more into focus, keeping in mind that the setting is as important as the structures.
Crop ratio 2.35:1: For me this image screams for that ratio.
I desaturated yellows and reds slightly, I know Jack about landscapes, this maybe a no no? and I may have over done it but those two colours were overpowering the structure.
Happy to remove this post if you are uncomfortable with my uninvited edit.

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
i had an idea of eliminating 1/4th part from the right side and also foreground bushes so that the bald hill part is also removed; just a thought

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
Nice image Bernard. If it were mine I would crop the fringe of grass at the FG and a corresponding amount, or a little more, from the background. Just my opinion.
Having gone through the other comments I see you gave already made adjustments. My bad for being so late 🤔

Re: Loch Lomond Hotel
I still prefer the uncropped original as the cropped image has lost something environmentally.I'm uploading an edited version with the FG bushes just to give you an idea. Please let me know if you want me to remove it
PS. I also like the cropped version. IMO It just doesn't say much about the environment but it is a nice image.
