Somewhere near Tenterden. I would be very interested in some insight to local photographic opportunities.

I'm in Kent but at the far north of the county, by the Thames. How far will you be able to travel? Will you have a car or will you be relying on public transport? And what do you like to photograph? I have a few ideas that might give you a pointer, depending on the above questions.

I like to shoot wildlife and landscapes but will try just about anything once or twice. I will have a car. We will be starting off in Olney Bucks and I know that area pretty well having been in the USAF in Bedfordshire. Then we move down to Kent for another 8 to 10 days. Kent is pretty much Terra Incognita and google earth shows that most of my early morning walks will be in farmland. We were there a couple of years ago to get on a cruise ship in Dover and drove through Royal Tunbridge Wells on the way back to Gatwick.

I'd be interested in some day out places to go. I think I do want to hit Dover Castle at some point.

Thank you. I'll remember to pack the tripod and ND filter I had tried searching on kent and photography but got lost in all the wedding stuff that came up. It looks like you have some hills. They are missing in this part of Florida.

I can attest that say; Royal Tunbridge Wells, does indeed have some hills - having walked a few (my daughter lives there).

I fear that if you're used to Florida Nature Reserves, you may find our UK ones rather - how shall I say - 'compact'

For birds you could try RSPB Reserves, although some are quite basic in terms of facilities (e.g. lacking somewhere for food).

Although my preference is for WWT reserves; unfortunately their closest reserves to Kent (because none are in Kent) are the ones in Barnes (London) or Arundel (West Sussex).

Tenterden is home of the Kent and East Sussex Railway, as you may already know - it is certainly photogenic and I'd call that a day out.

    Cheers, Dave

I have the railway and Bodiam Castle down for a day trip and the topo charts show some hills where we are staying. The first day or so will be local orientation trips. I need to sample a few pubs before deciding on a local.

I know what you mean about the size of preserves. I have 70,000 acres just outside of town which connects to another 70,000 on th other side of Route 31.
