Blind Dog
Jamie is a 6-9 month old Maltipoo (Maltese + Poodle) puppy who was found wandering the streets of Los Angeles. Being a stray in L.A. is hard enough for any dog but, I imagine it was terrifying for a blind puppy like Jamie. .
Our veterinary eye specialist has determined that he was born blind and there is nothing we can do to give him sight
Jamie is not ready for adoption yet. He needs a lot of socialization to help him, through his anxiety. I hold him in my arms for a couple of hours a day and that seems to have started working to bring him around...
However, Jamie lacks confidence (which is understandable) and tends to bump into furniture and walls. Many of our previous blind dogs could navigate quite well but, Jamie has not reached that point yet. We are purchasing a "Halo Harness" to help Jamie get around without bumping into things......

There is a great book regarding dog anxiety... "Chill Out Fido" by Nan Arthur

There are many-many training videos on YouTube regarding live with a blind dog; including some on how to make a Halo Vest...

Re: Blind Dog
Richard,
That dog is very fortunate to have you. We have a dog with a disability (3 legged) as well. These dogs really make you appreciate what you have. They want to work through the disability as if it does not exist.
