    Two priests

Hindu priests that is. They have just done a round of the temple courtyard of Hampi's Virupaksha Temple with a bell and offerings of rice and milk. A third priest (not in this image) walked in front of them with a burning torch.

    Two priests

The recipient of this largess? The temple macaques, of course...

The priests look like they've been dipping into the rice supply as well as the macaque.

Love the priest shot! One thing that really makes this (IMO) is that the two men are stepping off with the feet closest to each other and one of them is looking at the other. This binds together the elements of the image.

Great shots. Unfortunately I just about have the right figure to be a priest. Must ask my wife if I look better with no shirt or wearing an orange/red sort of kaftan.

P.S. Her answer will remain private.

Thanks for the laugh, Paul...I almost forgot what I wanted to say here...

Anyway -- so there is another priest. The one at the left is also holding a bell. I like both shots but the first one looks better if it is viewed in lytebox. Just a question, are monkeys considered sacred in India or only a particular kind of monkey? There is one in the first shot too.

I really like the angle at which the shot is taken... makes it very impactful.

Are you still in India, Manfred?

No we left home home on Tueday. We has six wonderful weeks in India, but things were getting a bit too warm for us in India and the worst of the winter is over in Canada, so it seemed like a good time to head home.

I have a very tiny bit of knowledge regarding the Hindu religion, so I am guessing quite a bit. There is Hanuman, the monkey god, who is an important diety. I suspect that this gives monkeys a level of status.

    An excellent pair of images.

I haven't had much opportunity to be on here the last few days and am sure I'm missing a lot. But glad I didn't miss these.

The richness of tone and colour just tops of two very, very strong compositions, in my view.

Really like the first image, like the guy on the right gaze, no matter how sacred the place or solemn the proceedings there is always someone on a phone
