    Shooting storms

Any camera setting tips on capturing the raging intensity of storms...gotta keep the ISO under 200.

A lot to consider, type of storm, your distance from the action, protection of you from the elements, freezing the moment or action blur. As you've set the limits for one variable, only shutterspeed and aperture to consider; although depending on the conditions you might also want to use exposure compensation, neutral density filters or other method of altering the exposure. Catching raindrops can be done at around 1/60th second, raging water around 1/500th or faster.

I've got a window-mount-gizmo for shooting from my truck...for the most part,
only the boiling/raging skies interest me.

    Why?

Seems like quite a limitation when light may be in short supply and compromising on the other factors of shutter speed and/or aperture may well spoil the shot in other ways.

If I were to guess at why - I'd say you intend to use an old camera body which won't break your heart if damaged by water or falling off that "window-mount-gizmo"

Artistically (and you are one of the more artistic members here William), I'd have thought that a bit of noise/'grain' in the sky, especially if converted to B&W, might enhance the image.

Anyway - good luck and I hope we see the results here.

YouTube has a plethora of storm related videos. I did a YouTube search with the following parameters "storm photography". These are the results of that search...

Not idiot...just forget at times and feels much easier to ask this group instead who'd be happy to point you to the right direction.

No one is an idiot for asking questions on this forum. Others just lead us in different directions to get answers! Besides, just for pure enjoyment, the quick and accurate answers to my queries is one of the best attributes of CiC...
