    For Richard

    For Richard,

We are now foster failures - we have adopted!

Not the best picture, but the best I could do by myself. Camera mounted on a flash bracket on a tripod, off camera flash, rogue flashbender, timer at 10 seconds.

Thank you, Richard, for taking the time to answer my "how-to" questions over the years.

Marie, "Not the best picture". I totally disagree This is a wonderfully heart warming image and a great picture. Thanks for fostering and for adopting and for giving me my evening doggy picture fix...

I would really like a recent picture of myself sitting on our couch literally covered by a group of dogs. I sometimes count seven or eight dogs sitting on the couch with me (or on me) ranging from our 55 pound goldendoodle to a five pound Maltese...

We had one of our foster dogs adopted today (a total of three from our organization at a Petsmart rescue event) and we picked up another foster dog from one of our foster care providers who had too many foster dogs. We are lucky enough to have a very large home with room for lots of dogs...

Her name is "Black Beauty"; the dog not the foster mom and I can't wait to photograph her tomorrow. IMO, she is truly lovely. I grew up with a black flat coated retriever and have always had a soft spot for black dogs ever since. The dog, Champ, that left our home today for adoption was also mostly black with some gray and white thrown in for good measure...

    Hi Marie.......

I hope you will excuse me, as I am not Richard, that I comment on your little story and photo .....both are very nice, and yourself are a very kind person

My Daughter has now 3 adopted dogs.....some weeks ago she did foster a little kitten, and found it then very hard, because of her dogs, to give the kitten back ......but was happy when she learned the kitten found a nice home

Griddi... I once had a cat who had an ongoing love affair with my German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Wolf. They were inseparable partners and played and slept together. They were both rescues...

Hi Richard.......perhaps in time the doggies of my Daughter would have get used to the little Kitten ( my Daughter was unhappy for some days when she had to give the Kitten back ) but there was also a problem with one of the dogs, who developed nearly straight away when the kitten arrived, sort of a constant sneezing .......

Thank you for sharing the images of Felix and Sara......just beautiful dogs.......I had a big grin on my face when reading the title on the photo of Felix ........

Richard, I'm curious about the lighting you used in the picture of your cat. Was it the lighting set up you usually use for your dog portraits or was it simply a snapshot that happened to turn out very well?

That's awesome, Marie. It would be nice if there were more such failures in the world.

Not sure what equipment you shoot but an inexpensive remote release would do wonders in those situations vs timed shutter.

    Hi, Dan

I have one, but it was not long enough. Also, as I do not believe i had enough hands, can you please tell me how I might accomplish that with my arms full of dogs? maybe I am missing something.

In similar condition I use a tiny wireless unit.

Bruce, that was just a serendipitous shot!

I have a sliding glass door in my bedroom which faces North. I was just passing by Felix as he was lazing on the bed and the newspaper and thought it might be a cute shot...

It was the North light from the big glass door which lit Felix. The newspaper acted as a reflector and opened the shadows.

I love spaniels of any kind and still think about and miss my first, now dead 36 years.
If I eventual settle I would get a female King Charles spaniel, imo, the loveliest of the bunch.

Congrats Marie. A picture of joy all round. The dog on your right arm looks to be the studious type. I could almost see a pair of wire rimmed specs on him.

The Fuji's have a blue tooth capability and I have a series of shots of an extended family gathering where everyone is looking at the camera except for one individual at the end who for some reason, seems to be engrossed in his mobile phone.
