I have good news and better news. I have finally gotten serious about writing 'The Book'. Because of the help I have received here it will be a very good looking book. That's the good and the better. The flip side is that the book will require a lot of creativity and just plain slogging. Not so much time and energy for here. Not that I won't be around looking for guidance, mentoring and the occasional bragging, I will. just not quite so often.

it reminds me of those high class dinners where they serve minimal amounts of food on maximum sized plates.

Hey Brian - best of luck with the new project, it's always a good feeling to be motivated to start something new. I really like the lighting and idea behind this picture - he coloured leaves and the grey ground really work together, and it does have that Michelin starred dinner feel about it.

What I would say (if you don't mind me offering some advice) is that like a high class chef, you should place your subjects with perfect accuracy and care. A Chef would not allow the sauce to drip off the plate, and likewise I think the image would be stronger if you cloned out the elements that are cropped by the image edge, something like this (done roughly for illustration). This allows the brain to instantly recognise that everything within the frame is there for a reason. Just my 2c.

Of course I don't mind. But taking out the bottom left in it's entirety seems too extreme?

It is your picture Brian - I was just illustrating the point to show how it cleans up the main subject, but you should do whatever you want with it!
