Well, I certainly didn't intend to step on anyone's toes.

If someone here asked me how fast my computer is and I told him that the CPU is an Intel 3930 Six Core Unlocked running at 3.6 Ghz with a 12Mb L2 Cache, I doubt if many here would know what I was talking about.

    I would just say-very fast.

I believe what Tom wants to know is how his model digital camera will work in a certain setting.

So if i was the first to be asked, I would have sent him HERE for a simple explanation.

I commented about third party external flashes because some of them don't sync with certain model cameras in TTL mode.

I would have also strongly suggested that he ask around (maybe at a local photo group) where the best camera store is in his area.

If Tom can get an experienced person (and I found out they don't have to ancient like me) at a local store he/she can match his camera to the best external flash for that model and his shooting preferences.

    My 2 cents

(Off Topic and for your information as a new member of CiC)

It occurs to me that you are totally missing the point.

Post #17 was a direct answer to Post #14, this was enunciated in Manfred's response.

Post #17 was NOT an answer to the OP’s question.

The responses of this author to the OP’s question were at Post #7 and Post #8.

I would say its a four and half year old processor and was reasonably fast but getting a bit long in the tooth

    Re: Camera settings

    Hi Robin,

It was the second fastest CPU on the market 2 1/2 years ago not 4 1/2. The fastest was twice the price and around $1100. I chose the $600 one.

I built the system myself and when finished 2 1/2 years ago it benchmarked as one of the top 10 desktop computers in the world.

Because it is unlocked it can be overclocked to 4.5 Ghz and still be stable. I don't run it at that because I want the system to last more than 5 years.

With the ROG Approved Asus Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard and 32 GBs of Corsair Dominator Platinum Ram, it smokes any game that you want to put on it.

I call it HAL. If you are interested in all the specs, I can post them.
