    Hummingbird Clearwing Moth (Hemaris thysbe)

    This North American moth comes out on clear early-Spring mornings to sip from the same plants favored by butterflies and honeybees:

    Nice capture. Having the bee in the same frame gives a good sense of scale. It's a big rascal. Why is it called clearwing?

    I've just learned that this moth is not the Clearwing, but Amphion floridensis, which it resembles.

    Nicely seen Tom. The scene is very nice though a bit busy. If not for the different colouring of the bees the two would have been lost.
