Congratulations to Donald and Colin. I am glad that both Donald and Colin's photos were in my vote list. It was very hard to make decision as there are so many excellent photos. Well done.
My goodness. Even more so given the overall quality of the entries.
The biggest struggle I have is establishing and sticking to the criteria I try and set in deciding upon my 1, 2 and 3. There are just so many stunning images that come through in this monthly competition that getting a short list to below something like 7 or 8 is a really hard work.
Would be interesting to know what criteria each of us seeks to apply in making our decisions. For me, it's not just about the general 'feel' of the image. If it was I'd never get a decision made as there are too many that induce a 'Wow'. I try to consider the 'vision' that was there that saw the image in the first place. Then it's about my perception of the artistry applied in creating the image followed by an evaluation of the application of technical knowledge and skills in making the picture. I never bother to think about what might have been done in camera and what in PP - 1) because I don't know and, 2) because it doesn't matter as both are equal parts of the process of making the picture. Just one way of thinking about it. There will be many others.

Congratulations Yan, Donald and Colin on 3 beautiful shots.
It gets harder all the time to make a decision. My criteria varies depending on the range of shots in the competiton. Sometimes I have so many on the short list that I have to make up reasons to eliminate some of them. Normally I have at least 5 that I want to vote for.

Congratulations to the winners, although I wouldn't mind betting the followers were close-run. The stunningly high standard is one of the things that makes this forum shine.
My criteria are mostly on the wow factor as I'm still developing my judgement eye for composition, subject placement, viewpoint etc. I always have my selection open in separate windows and spend ages flicking along, gradually eliminating.
Congratulation to all winners and participants for such a high standard. My criteria is based firstly upon vision and then on composition.
Well done Yan, Donald and Colin.
These competitions are getting harder each month and as the bar gets higher, to be the best... we must beat the best!
Congrats. to the winners, well deserved.
Congratulations guys, you did a great job
Congrats to Yan, Donald and Colin, well done all.
Thank you folks ... so long as we remember there were a number of pictures in there that could/should so easily have been selected instead of one or all of us three. It's about all of us improving together.
Thanks folks! For me, when I look at a photo, I look at two things: (1) light: whether the light condition is good or special; Usually a special light condition is a pre-condition to create a special photo; and (2) composition: whether there is/are some interesting subject/s in the frame and composed nicely. There are some other things affected my decision on a photo, but these two are quite essential.
