It's a nice image and I would not try to use anything other than diffuse natural light for this subject. Small flash will cause hot spots and uneven reflections and you would need to bring a studio light with a medium or large softbox to do this justice. Bright sunny conditions would cast harsh shadows and introduce other problems into the image.
Diffuse light is best for fine details like found in this door, and you've brought out the beautiful workmanship in it. The image rather reminds me of a door I shot at the Ranganatha temple, in Srirangapatna to where there is a small temple containing a statue of Lakshmi. Perhaps I should pull that out for comparison, even though it is not nearly as ornate as this door.
