I drive past the renovation of older terrace houses in the inner city suburbs every night and saw this opportunity. The old fashion light and mottled walls attracted my attention.

Hi Peter,

I can't see any EXIF, but I suspect both shots would work better (at isolating the lamp), if shot with a wide aperture (for narrow DoF), probably combined with a longer focal length, hence shot from further away.

There's a lamp on the wall of a public house near me that I should photograph, perhaps for Pops 'seen it and captured it' (next semester project) thread - especially as I think the building will be demolished soon.

I might have a look at B & W, sounds a good idea.

Also Dave I had a problem with a very closeby tree limiting the angle of the shoot and also a very busy roadway right behind me but I like the idea. I did note the tree has now gone so I too might re-visit for Pops program.

I took a "caught my eye" shot of mine with BlackBerry tonight, but might have to wait until weekend to do it properly. I may be dodging the traffic too

Not bad, I would try a darker border. The white border competes with the greys in the image.

Agreed, the dark border helps lead the eyes into the image.
