Hi Peter, I like the second photo focusing on the old light. The first one is OK but seems to have too many subjects in the frame.

I can't see any EXIF, but I suspect both shots would work better (at isolating the lamp), if shot with a wide aperture (for narrow DoF), probably combined with a longer focal length, hence shot from further away.
There's a lamp on the wall of a public house near me that I should photograph, perhaps for Pops 'seen it and captured it' (next semester project) thread - especially as I think the building will be demolished soon.

I might have a look at B & W, sounds a good idea.
Also Dave I had a problem with a very closeby tree limiting the angle of the shoot and also a very busy roadway right behind me but I like the idea. I did note the tree has now gone so I too might re-visit for Pops program.
