People at the Badami Cave temples
Just a couple of people shots at the Badami Cave Temples in India that I had processed but not posted. My technique in both shots was to point the camera on the subjects and the moment they made eye contact, I pressed the shutter release. That way I caught the happy medium where I get the eye contact but before they quite realize I'm taking their picture.
1. Mother and daughter - here I like the contrast between the two figures in front of the dark cave temple opening with a bit of counterpoint of the dark opening at the right.
2. Climbing the hill

Well controlled in shot 2, that lighting looks tough so a great result to get such good light profiles across their faces. I'm not sure if its possible to reduce the bright spot on the nose in pp - I'm guessing not easily. The natural tones of the rock juxtapose well against the purple in the clothes - I really like this.
I love the connection with your subjects in the first pic. I'm not saying this would work, but maybe a little dodging on the black dress would provide more separation between the person and the cave. Finally, my personal preference is less negative space on the right; I'd try halving it myself, but I know you have left it on purpose so this is just a preference.

A wonderful set.
I like the colors and expressions in the first. In the second the point of view and them being on diagonal makes for a more dynamic image.

I prefer the second shot. It looks more natural and not posed than the first one (even if the first one is not, it looks like it.) I like the composition of #2 better too.
