Great, great start using your new lens!
Nice captures, a monopod would be a good accessory also.
I used a monopod...
I think the first one is spectacular, Richard. Good contrasting colours and good pose on the bird. In compositional terms, it looks like a spiral.
Outstanding! #1 is a stunner.
Thanks, I really like the freedom of this focal range... An equivalent 160mm to 640mm that can be hand held but is really better on a monopod...
Richard, they are all great images; but you must have kept the width of the frame to nearly 1/4th of the present....presently it is diluting my concentration on the subject
Stunning shots Richard
I agree. The first two are stunning.
Sergio
Excellent Richard but only partly because of the lens. Not much it can do on its own
Thanks John and Robert... There are so many birds in this enclosure that it is quite difficult to get decent composition. That is the benefit of digital, it doesn't cost anything to shoot a lot of images... Unfortunately, you just cannot direct these birds I probably shot about twenty exposures to get this one.
When I first opened your post, the very first image just blew me away; the colors are almost fluorescent, they remind me of the look of certain posters under blacklight. Number 1 is and remains my favorite, it's just stunning in both color and composition. A classic flamingo pose with vibrant colors. I'd hang it if it were mine.
Thanks Jack... I have been considering getting a large metallic print made of this image...
Great set of shots Richard. Beautifully rich colour and nicely presented. Money well spent then.
Indeed, truly beautiful set of images & agree with all, #1 is a ripper!
Richard, I have a 3-year-old (going 130 year old according to UCCI) grandchild here that went from loving frogs to now a fan of flamingoes. I had seen this post last night and showed it to her and she think it is the most beautiful thing/bird on earth. Rightly so. These are very nice shots.
