The second one....

She is a pretty model, but there are three main problems. The flower decoration is far too dominant. we should have our attention drawn to the model, not the flower. The light on the grass is too bright. The camera angle is too steep (looking down on her)

Try to choose a less bright backdrop, get down to her level to shoot, and you really don't need decorative items like that in her hair.

Little girls are figgity creatures but, I wish the top girl in photo #1 was looking at the camera rather than looking down...

The first shot needed the little girl in the back looking into the camera. It could also use a rim light to separate the subjects from the dark background. I like the dark BG, BTW.

The second image needed a lower camera height, tighter framing, and a smile on her face.

All in all, I think you certainly have potential as a portrait photog. Keep shooting!

The first photo is perfect as far as exposure, focus and white balance. The imagery is memorable, especially how the child in the background is gazing downward toward her sibling. This is probably more luck than composition, unless the photographer sensed the interaction and responded to it. The only issue with the photo is that the limbs of the adults are trimmed.
