Thank you Steaphany, John and Paul for your comments. On another forum, some of the feedback is that the colors are over saturated and the first image is too contrasty.

Well, I like the saturated colours John, although in image number 1 you could pull a little yellow out of the sky, or tone it more towards the orange side, but that's just personal preference.

In image 2 I'd advise cloning out the twigs at the top of the image on the right, but I love the rest. Nice framing with the foreground foliage.

Having been out with the camera today under featureless cloudy skies, I long for a trip to the coast at sunset!

I am with Simon here that I like #1 the way it is, but in #2, that unrelated twigs on the top right hand side is a bit of a bother to me. I like the colours too -- doesn't bother me. It probably depends on who you are talking to.
