    The fickle finger of me

Well I wanted a wide angle for my D810 but I have enough very wide lenses so even as my finger hovered over the Nikon 20mm it slipped and hit the order for a Sigma 24-35mm lens. Evil finger!

Not a great photo but great detail...

    The fickle finger of me

I have had to put myself on a learning curve and I am still not certain that the lens is focusing properly at images near the lens. But we have enjoyed our time together thus far.

Sigma are building a rock solid line of ART lenses and looking at the reviews this looks to be another stellar performer.

Be interesting to see some of your wide open (f2.2 is meant to be noticeably better from what I've read) shots to show off the narrow DoF.

I would cut my finger off if it did that...

I am thinking for when I travel I should get a Nikon 20 mm and leave my old, bulky but reasonably good Sigma 15-30 mm behind to save a bit of weight. 24 mm is just not wide enough.

Anyway that is enough about what I want you seem to be happy with your new lens and disobedient finger.

I find the second image interesting because the door says "love one another" while right beside the door there is razer wire along the top of the fence.

    There's always the 8-16mm

Ted was just trying to upset me. He knows I would never go for a lens that only fits on a toy camera.......

I'll just stick with my Nikkor f/2.8 14-24mm then...

Re: The fickle finger of me

Well, I used AF Fine-Tune +8 to get the lens to focus correctly on near objects. I employed two cereal boxes on the kitchen table with the D810 mounted on a tripod and studied the images on view screen with the +/- buttons to detect the best setting. Probably not scientific but I did learn that foods made from whole grains have naturally occurring ingredients which surprised me as I have eaten asphalt most of my adult life.

    The fickle finger of me

The flower is 227kb which is a little small and I inadvertently left the D810 at 400 ISO. Interestingly Camera RAW dealt with what little grain there was very well (25mm, f/2.2, 1/400s).

    The fickle finger of me

The orange is also small at 327kb (32mm, f/3.5, 1/1250/s).
I was pleased with the results. I like deep blacks as is obvious.
