Welcome to the forum. These are very nice images that would certainly grace any wall. I very much like the presentation with the black background. Worth leaving a space between them as you post them though and it would be nice if we had some more info about you such as name and location.

Using the black background is an interesting concept with the fish...very dramatic.

    Hi,

Firstly; a warm welcome to the CiC forums from me.

Could you do me a favour please?
Could you click Settings (right at the top),
    then Edit Profile (on left)
and put your first name (Phat?) in the Real Name field
and where you are (roughly) in the Location field,
then click the Save Changes button below and to right,
this helps everyone give you more personal and relevant answers - thanks in advance.

These are certainly a distinctive and attractive style and as such, I hesitate to suggest any alterations, but since we are a learning community, I'll offer some thoughts.

Bear in mind these are an excellent series - well above average and way better than any shot I have taken of fish in an aquarium. So I am being very finicky when I raise these issues.

    If I had got these shots to this level in shooting and PP, I would 'finish them off' by attending to the following very minor issues;
In #1 and #3, there is a small white dot at the tail, apparently separate from the fish, this may be part of the fish, but since there is no visible connection, I would 'clone' or 'spot heal' them out.
In all four, I would attempt some very subtle lightening ('dodging') of some body parts that are darker in tone due to the angle of light illuminating them.

As I said, these are very minor points and even with an A/B comparison, some may not notice a difference after.

With regard to the position of the fish in each frame and the amount and location of negative space, I'm not sure I would have always done the same as you have, but this is part of your style and I'm not going to criticise that, nor suggest that what I might have come up with would be any more valid.

I hope you find my thoughts helpful, Dave

Welcome to the group... Absolutely lovely images!

I wonder if a very simple border might be appropriate. I left the crop as you had it and added a .2 inch (~5mm) white border and a 2 inch (~50mm) black border.

    Betta Art

BTW: I lived in Ho Chi Minh City when it was Saigon. My house was on Phan Dinh Phung, near Le Van Duyet...
