    Divine Intervention

Up early to photograph the mountains of the South Sinai Peninsula only to discover it was one of the 10% of cloudy days in Sharm el Sheik! This was obviously divine providence as on this Good Friday I was, as if by god himself, drawn to the beautiful Heavenly Cathedral, a Coptic Christian Church. It was sad and yet reassuring to see this beautiful Church surrounded with barricades and police in a 1/2 km ring. Navigating all of this with my broken arabic at 0545 in the morning was worth it as, having negotiated the police barriers, I was met by a kind gardener who, after searching my camera bag to make sure I wasn't carrying a bomb, accompanied me into the inner sanctity of this wonderful church. It was a spiritual and uplifting Good Friday morning. Happy Easter to those who celebrate it. C and C welcome.

    Beauties, Stu.

That last one in particular is of outstanding quality, I think. A pretty challenging scene in terms of light and shade and it's been expertly captured and displayed.

Donald, Nandakumar, Dan, John, - thanks for the encouragement. Next week I am looking forward to an Egyptian colleague accompanying me for a visit to Sharm el Sheik's most beautiful mosque (called the Al Mustafa mosque) to take some photos inside. Here is the exterior (a photo I'm not really happy with as it, I believe, his too much distracting foreground:

It's not easy to use a fisheye (as I know to my cost) but the first one in particular is a great image. Nice set all round but the third image is a stand out, perfectly exposed and composed.
