This photo is of the bottle and cork that stored the wine I drank more than five years ago on my 60th birthday. It is the 1996 Chateau Latour first growth grand cru wine rated 97 by Wine Spectator. It's the only premier grand cru Bordeaux I have ever drunk and will probably remain the only one due to the exorbitant cost. It was the best wine I have ever had (though my wife disagrees), so I will probably keep the bottle the rest of my life.
Setup
The tabletop is wood with a semi-glossy urethane finish. The background is art paper. A small continuous-light lamp fitted with a diffusion sock is in front and high above the scene. Everything about the lighting setup was driven primarily by the position of the shadow and secondarily by my desire to prevent direct reflections.
