Helpful Posts: Found another shot from my trip last fall that lent itself to the bear in the mist theme. This is more what I had in mind.
For PP I raised the luminosity of the blue channel in LR to lighten the BG, converted to B/W, and used a filter in On1 that they call a "bleach effect".

Great capture! The mood is spot on. The way you just glimpse the snowflakes, and the look the polar bear looks at the camera is spectacular. Simple but strong composition. I like it!

This image is so similar to the other image yet so very much dissimilar. It's inevitable that most people will prefer one style over the other, but for me the most important issue is that both are just wonderfully conceived and executed.

Dan, this is still a great image. It has a different mood and feel to it. In fact, my wife said, "It's so cute, I want to give it a hug". I said "We know how that would turn out."
