    Fascinating shapes Robert - definitely a candidate for a black and white conversion.

    Are you up high or was this taken by a drone?

    Hi Simon,
    Looks nice in BW as well although contrast is not as I would like it to be. It is not a drone photo, I was just on the road above which explains awkward angle as the place deserves a better one. Can you figure out what are you looking at?

    Re: What do you see

    Looks like;
    two roads
    stone walls
    a few green bushes
    a gap (for a gate perhaps)
    then hundreds of sectionalised areas in the fields either side of the roads
    the weird bit is the compartments also seem to be made of heaped up rocks/stones
    in the more distant 'field', each compartment seems to contain one-three dead looking trees
    the landscape doesn't look flat enough for water to be involved

    Very bizarre

    Hi dave,

    This is vineyard and each square contains several grape vine trees. Average yield is about 1 kg per tree but makes exceptional wine.
    Here, grape vine growing started in 8th century BC. Land taken from the stones with primitive gear and hard labour. Pitty that had no time to get to a better angle.

    No wonder they didn't ship the stones out for aggregate use

    One of those cases where a lot of small effort over a massive time scale pays dividends.
