    Passion C&C welcomed

This will be the last K9 image I will post for a bit, as I know these are not for everyone. This is from today -- the lighting conditions were extremely difficult. This was an example where all the planets lined up for me, as nothing in these images are posed. I love the intensity and passion of this image.

Kim - it seems TinyPics is acting up for me as all I get here is a mostly black image with a Bethesda Game Studio logo.

Unfortunately, this crops up with TinyPics from time to time with some people seeing the right image while others have to wait a few hours to a few days before the proper image pops up.

Well that's disappointing that you don't see it. Is there something I should do?

Not unless you switch to a different image hosting service. My understanding is that TinyPic keeps images for a certain length of time and if no one is looking at them, they will eventually delete the image and re-use the url for a different image. The seem to use different servers and they don't always update at the same time, so this issue crops up every so often.

Addendum: The picture did show up after I posted. Another great shot, Kim! Nice pose and I see what you mean about the lighting, but the dark, neutral colours really work well for this image.

I'll try to remember to let you know when I can view the image. Based on my past experience, by the time I can review it everyone else will have already been able to review it at least for days.

Here is the image for those that can not see it.

    Kim,
I have hosted it on my Flickr account so people can view it, I will remove it when the gremlins are fixed or when you request that I do so.

Finally visible, very well lit and focused (the dog as well), too bad it's the last of the series; I would have liked to see the pup spring into action.

Great shot. Fantastic Light! The modelling is really good. The light sets a mood. Good tension.

Is that inside a training room and only window light from camera left?

It's a great feeling when it all comes to together like this one, isn't it? It's very likely that you knew you had a winner in the can when you pulled the shot?

It's the combination of catching the shot on the fly and the light "being there" because you have anticipated and positioned yourself in the right spot for the light and the adrenaline is pumping and something like 'instinct' takes over for a short period of time . . . 'cause your "in the moment". . . and all those hours of practice of shooting on the fly and the rote repetition of technical procedures . . . really do pay off.

    Top work. Well done.

Thanks to Robbie for displaying the image, as it's still not being displayed in Kim's post on my end.

Such a tremendous image for all the reasons already given by others. I would caption it "Concentration."

    Ha!

I was so ripped by the picture I didn't read any of your intro!

Yes indeed you were "in the moment": and so was I when I first viewed the image, thanks for sharing.

And, as for C&C - the only reason that 'the planets lined up' was because of the practice: that is worth repeating.

Lot's of intensity in this Kim. Well done and I do enjoy your K9 images even if I don't always comment.

Another great shot Kim, I think this one is better than the other two due to the lighting.

Thank you John. I did a series from this point until they reached the decoy. I haven't looked at them yet.

    Re: Passion C&C welcomed

    Thank you Bill.

It was inside an abandoned large store. The only light was coming from the front of the store - yes, camera left. Some of the walls were dark blue, and other walls were the color in the image. I decided to shoot Manual, as my brain still has a hard time with exposure compensation (seems backwards to me) when shooting in A mode, especially in these conditions.

When I saw scene, I knew it was special, I was just praying he would stay still for the second I needed to capture it (it's so fast moving). It's the only image I looked for and then processed that night (which was a mistake as I was so excited about it, I didn't sleep :-)

I am so very grateful for the experience they have given me - I have free access to them, and as much access as I like.

I went to a seminar this past weekend with a top fashion photographer. At the end, she said to think about what our favorite 5 images are. When I thought about mine, they all include a lot of emotion, intensity, rawness, and passion. Now, I need to consider what that says about me as a photographer. I do know, this image represents the direction I would like to take my photography.

Yes, practice, practice. And it's been a wonderful source of peace for me.

By the way, the K9 handlers were all wild about the image :-)
