    Hmmm, actually, I'm not sure about the composition with his one Brian.

    If it were mine; at the risk of an even bigger crop degrading IQ, I'd lose about 15% off left edge and 20% from the bottom, putting the top edge of the leaf twist in to the new corner just created.

    That eliminates a lot of the brighter background areas, which saves them competing with the subject.

    I did tone those areas down. Wouldn't the crop move the snail down and too much to he left? Obviously I shall have to have a go at it.

    I went back and gave it a shot. And it does work. the problem was that it requires a subtly different work up to really look good. Which is why there is no shot to show that it was a good idea.
