On the beach C&C needed
Hi,
A bit out of my comfort zone. I am trying to show a couple on the beach, but far apart. I know there are things wrong with the conversion, the sky is horrid for a start, but I'd appreciate thoughts on the composition and general treatment.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: On the beach C&C needed
Dave - the my first glance suggests that the couple is such a minor part of the composition that they add little to no value to the image. I probably would clone them out as a distraction, although I might leave the one on the left in as that figure breaks up the area a bit.
The crop is definitely too tight at the top, with the top of the hill on the left "kissing" the edge of the frame. I think you need some negative space there to balance things out a bit. The sky definitely does not match the sand as the lighting in the sky seems far too dark to produce such light coloured sand (in fact, if you had not said it was a beach, I would have guessed at snow on the ground).
I'm also trying to figure out the reason you decided to go monochrome here. You have highlights and dark areas but the mid-tones are really lacking. It can be tough to get a colour image to work with that kind of distribution and even more so a B&W image.

I would have said the same things as Manfred anyway.
