A Very Pheasant Time Was Had.

It's still a bit cold up on the fells but everything is blooming. The pheasants are at their most colourful and too busy to notice me. C&C very welcome. My own favourite might have been no.5 had I been able to get close enough to retain the a bit more IQ.

Looks like you had difficult lighting for the first two. #4 & 5 are very good.

Beautiful birds to be sure. Yes during breeding season many critters can be surprisingly oblivious to our presence. Take advantage while you can. IMO no.3 is the superior image of the lot. Great detail and a contrasting BG with few distracting elements.

    Thanks for the comments all.

Geoff, yes the first two were taken under some trees/ bushes.

Dan, all of these were hand held with a 1.4 converter giving a FL of about 550mm. No. 3 was out in the open in reasonable light and I managed a shutter speed of 1/240th sec and I guess, it shows in the IQ. The first two on the other hand were taken at just 1/50th sec and although that speaks volumes for Fuji's 5 stop claim for their image stabilization on the lens, there's bound to be a difference.
