Oblivious Owners (Colour or Black & White?)

I thought I'd try a change of location earlier and headed down to the marina for a stroll.

Managed to snap this little fella, his owners were and probably still are completely oblivious to this

I can't decide on colour or black and white?

    #1 - Colour

    #2 - B&W

#3 - B&W - Fixed the blown highlights on the dogs head

I like the B&W version with vignetting better. There is a blown patch on the dogs head though, that was ok in the colour version. So easy on the contrast slider.

    Nice composition and focus.

Hi Dem, thanks... I went a bit over the top with the dodge tool I think

This one is funny. Yes the B/W works for me.

Another vote for b&w here. I like the light but the colours pull your attention in the wrong direction IMO. Good conversion.

Cheers guys, the only reason I contemplated the colour version is for the evening light and they both had orange bags... but I suppose they are a distraction from the main subject.

Keeping in mind that I know absolutely nothing about the genre, as a viewer the difference in the two are as follow.

In the color photo, the orange bags immediately grab my attention. Almost as much as the dog. In the B/W version the dog is obviously front and center. Next my eye wanders up to the two men. And then, oh my, they've got the dog's leash! How cute. A much more engaging image. Sorry I should have explained first go around

    Its all about the viewer

I'm still learning myself, its been a steep transition from walking over mountains to wandering aimlessly through the city looking for a shot.

That's a good one with your opportunity to interact with the pooch while the owner's totally unaware. Nicely captured, both work for me; although the B & W helps diminish the typical tinging of white fur.

Not sure why you can't see the images Binnur, the B&W is now on my website and Flickr page though

Can't add to Dan's comments except to say that it was well seen.
