a little bird dropped by
A mature male fairy blue wren, who was on a bush at our back door. We have a few of them which hang around the yard. The females and immature males are a dull pale brown in plumage. The males develop this blue plumage to attract a girlfriend when they are ready to mate. The bush it is on is dead due to the current water shortage here. But we have left it in situ as it is a favourite perch for our smaller native birds.
Thanks for viewing and for any comments, the good, the bad, and even the ugly.

These are pretty little birds (at least the males) and hard to get close enough for a really good photo. My book calls this the superb fairy-wren. We get more of the red backed fairy-wrens here.

Nice capture of this restless little bird. I'm pretty sure the Blue and Superb Fairy wrens are one and the same; they do seem to vary a little in colour depending on where you are. We are right at the northern end of their habitat (about 1500km from you). You are very lucky to have them in your yard, I have a 3km hike to find them.
