A Day Hike In The Finger Lakes National Forest

The Finger Lakes National Forest encompasses 16,259 acres, between Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.
This was this past Thursday. It was a beautiful, breezy, cool day with a bright blue sky and no clouds.

Also helps (when more than a couple) if you number them, so we can refer back to a specific one easily and unambiguously.

Good series (well worth viewing full size in LyteBox), probably my least favourite is the duck's posterior - and the mossy stump is the best of the bunch for me.

Some interesting images here. They certainly remind me of the way the outdoors look around my neighbourhood (which is a couple of hours north of where these shots were take). Unfortunately, it's still too muddy to get into some of my favourite shooting locations. I hope things dry out a bit over the next week or so in order for me to get in there to do some shooting before all the leaves are out.

The cloudless skies don't do that much for me, I guess I'm a fan of the puffy clouds that will start showing up in another month or two. The duck's rear end is too common a scene around here, so I can't get too excited about that shot either. The one I like best is the last one, where you are shooting up into the trees. The B&W conversion works well and the perspective is a bit unusual (which is probably why I like it).

I agree. It can be very confusing to the eye when the images are close together.

I like the goose shot too (it is a goose...but that is not the point). I liked it because We were sitting in the sun eating our lunch while the goose was eating his. Also, I see LOTS of goose and duck shots... not too many of this "other side" of the bird

Thank you. I like how the branches seem to fill almost all of the open space. I also like the diagonal feel to the image.

I love that sunny stump image also. It is my laptop wallpaper currently.

Thank you! I too prefer fluffy white clouds to clear skies, but I was happy that it was sunny and not overcast, as we see far too often in this area. It was a bit muddy and wet here, but not too bad.
I like the up the tree shot also. I had to de-saturate the blues all the way to create more contrast between the sky and the branches. I like how the tree trunk comes into the image from the bottom left, and not straight up. It makes me sort of dizzy with the branches coming out at an angle.
