    Eagle in Flight

Sometimes you just get too close...This Eagle and I startled each other as I paddled along the shore of a small local lake and I never noticed it perched in the branches above me until it decided to launch. I grabbed a couple of quick shots. I could see the hairs on his chinny chin chin

Eagle and I go back a long way. I have never seen a better shot of the Eagle Spirit than this shot of yours. Superb.

P.S. I was born and raised in B.C. and thought I had been most places where there was a road but somehow I missed Salmo.
P.P.S. I just set your shot to be my computer background.

That works for me Monte. It's not often you can look an Eagle in the eye.

Now THAT is impressive! Incredible skill and reflexes to handle a 500mm lens and get off a great shot like that from a small boat.

Very nice Monte, very nice indeed.

I envy your reactions, I'm sure I'd have not got such a good capture in similar circumstances.

    Cheers, Dave

Thanks for the comments everyone, it was an exhilarating experience and what gets me out on the lakes when things like this can happen at any time.

Beautiful. I have only had the pleasure of seeing a wild bald eagle once. We were on the shore of Lake Ontario. I didnt raise my camera...we just watched it soar over our heads.

Quick reflex, Monte -- good eye contact with the camera too!

I hate it when that happens. Both as a photographer and as a paddler. You were quicker on the draw than me. Awesome detail.
