Had a chance to play with the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, didn't get a chance to give it a real workout though. It's a nice lens though. f/2.8, ISO 200, 1/160sec.

Not sure what exactly that bird is but, whatever it is, it is a great shot. Is that a native species (to NYS that is)?

    Hi Jack,

This was taken at the zoo and I forgot to look for identification, have spent a few hours trying. Thanks for commenting.

I am thinking on a tamron 70 to 300 but maybe a 70 to 200 is just fine.

    Hi Izzie,

Still checking on the ID, this was taken at the zoo and none of the birds listed on their website look familiar. Thanks for commenting.

    Brian,

My Nikon 70-300mm is my go to lens, but for some situations I'd gladly forego the extra focal length for the faster speed of the 70-200mm.

Very clear and crisp shot, John. So, is this a new lens for you?

    Hi Sergio,

I went to a photowalk sponsored by a local photography store and they allowed us to try out the lenses. I got about three hours to play with it. Thanks for commenting.

This one was on of my favorites as she came over to the area where I was positioned and stared me down.

Very nice John, is that the lens with optical stabilisation?
Been considering one of these myself.

All very nice, John. Now, I am guessing, you are suffering from the dreaded GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)

    Re: Shot

very nice images John, I have the 70-300 and love the reach of it but I envy the speed of the 70-200. However, its still only as good as the hands its in - and in this case it looks very good
