I saw a new bird in the backyard

I saw a new bird in the backyard, in the distant wood line...a very small bird. I assumed my usual vantage point at the window and was able to get an acceptable shot with some difficulty...at a 100% crop it was identifiable; with heavy noise reduction, it got better. I moved outside to the wood line to see if I may catch it a bit closer....sat for a while....got the idea to grab my tablet, realized that I had downloaded an app called I-Bird last year. Played the call a few times.....and found myself eye ball to eye ball with a very pissed off Red-Breasted Nuthatch. It was actually to close to focus!!! Eventually, it backed off and I rattled off a few shots

Let that be a lesson to you

Still, you got some nice sharp close up shots.

    Very nice.

I think the Red-breasted are more difficult to capture that the White-breasted.

I agree, I think they are migrating through to the north woods. I will say this...It really reacted to that call though, I'm just glad I didn't play the moose call!!

I wonder what would come if you did...

Thanks for the early morning laugh...I will dream of that scenario when I go back to bed.
