    I love the composition Brian It's a pity that your focus is on the leaf instead of the insect .

    Sounds better than fried grasshoppers which are the epicurean delights of some strange people...

    You have the head, with eyes and antennae sharp, Brian, so it doesn't matter if the rest of its body is gradually fading out of focus. I frequently take the same sort of shot when it is impossible to get absolutely square on to the subject.

    actually the grasshopper upper 1/3 has a lot as in focus.

    Well , then I think it is an optical illusion for me. I think the shape , texture and color of the leaf makes it look sharper than the insect and that's why I see the focus on the leaf rather than the insect

    PS. I actually see the head in focus in Richard's edit because he added some texture and contrast to the image and the insect can be seen much better
