    Perhaps there is some food source the insect likes that you can use to lure it. Nice effort, looks like a shrimp.

    Brian, congratulations. a fine capture.. patience is a virtue which has to be honed for success in insect macro photography!

    They enjoy much of the vegetation in the garden. They are shade dwellers and usually i just end up with dark blurs.

    the surface is the leaf of a Bird of Paradise. The light is good because the sun was shining through the leaf. And for the record this was taken just before I looked up and snapped the i need a telephoto Sun bird shot. My kit lens does a lot better on macro than telephoto.

    That's a super image. As Dave suggested, nature provided an excellent background. And the detail on the, the ... the (what is it?) is very good.

    my in depth research has conclusively proven that it's a bug. It took a bit of search refinement but I do believe it is a 'Leafhopper'.
