Wine Corks -- not a half-hearted approach

My wife and I have friends in South Africa who gave us the heart-shaped board for Christmas 2015. We place corks of special wines or wines enjoyed at special occasions on the board. Information about each wine is recorded in a spreadsheet and a corresponding chart that numbers each hole allows me to look up that information.

Setup
The heart-shaped board is hanging on a piece of black foam core. A small continuous-light lamp is on the left side. A reflector on the right side brightens that area enough to separate the heart from the background.

Can I say that that is a corker of a shot, but I would expect it to improve with age over the next few months as more is added.

It's a nice simple form with the usual good lighting and good colours and tones.

You could keep the spreadsheet on a USB stick embedded in one of the corks!

That first (top centre) cork looks a little bright to me, is that deliberately so Mike?

You would have to ask the cork maker.

Seriously, notice that the shadow side of that cork is also brighter than the other corks. That's because corks are made in a variety of tones. It's just dumb luck that once the board is filled, that brighter cork is going to be in a prominent, centered position. So, I decided not to change its tonality during post-processing because this is one image of a series of images I'll make over the years.
