Good action captures Neil,
I have two suggestions that (if it were mine) I would do to #1;
a) The blackest level in the image is a bit high; it needs dragging down to digital 0 to give the same deep tones you have in #2.
b) I'd crop off, or better still (to retain the current good composition), clone out, the items of clothing on the bench on the right hand side.
Otherwise, they demonstrate good focus, depth of field, framing and exposure.
