Young woman with Mardi Gras mask

This was taken last summer on Pride Sunday, here in Toronto.
As I was leaving the Gay Village and returning to my car, I noticed an attractive young woman in an interesting costume, and asked her if I could take a couple of street portraits. We walked down a side street into a shaded area where I took two or three environmental shots with a 35, and then switched to my 105 to get a head and shoulders portrait to accentuate her beauty. As she posed she playfully brought her Mardi Gras mask up to her face and I got this shot.

The film was Agfa RSX 100 which I'm not overly fond of as it has a strange colour palette which reminds me of colour photos from early in the 20th century. Additionally it doesn't resolve as well as Kodak or Fuji slide films.
However it was what was in the camera art the time, and I'm happy with the end result.

I like the way that mask almost looks like a mustache in the image. I don't know if this was planned or not, but I find the effect works really well. Even though she is looking directly at you, she looks somewhat detached and that works for me as well.

Unfortunately you do have a bit of a wicked green colour cast (people tend to not look their best when the are green).

Gay village in Toronto? I guess that shouldn't be a surprise. Where in the city is that?

Green cast? I wonder if your eyes are being influenced by the green background that surrounds her.
It was caused of course by the trees and grass on the street.

Gay Village is centered on Church Street and runs from a few blocks south of Bloor south to about Carlton.

And the green trees and grass reflect green light onto the subject and create the green cast.
