This was our other focus during the Boot Camp -- using light to get drama and texture. I know "dark" is not everyone's taste - Cliff even mentioned that during the session. Once again, he provided us with some tips (not settings) and then it was about experimenting, looking at what we have, thinking about how the camera will see it (in 3D)

Nice work.

There is certainly drama in each image and to a varying degree in each, but not all of that drama is created solely by the light.

The lighting should make the subject the focus; however, what you do with the background can enhance the subject as well. Quality of light on the subject is key; the quality of light on the girl with the veil over her face is not where it needs to be -- if I had gotten that better, the image would have been enhanced. The upside is, I know what I did wrong ;-) Hope that answers your question.

Yes it does: completely. The example you gave about the image of the Girl and the Veil solidified my understanding of The Concept.

Absolutely Mark - I feel in order to grow, I need to take a look at every image I take, ask myself what I don't like, and then ask -- what went astray/how do I fix it next time.
