    Monochrome Mini Competition #33

    Here's how it works ...

    - You good folks post MONOCHROME images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture) (Click the "Go Advanced" button)

    - When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

    - After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

    - If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

    Too easy eh?

Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thread in this forum

Recognised that straight away - Stowe gardens in Buckinghamshire. Great garden, and great for photography.

    Spot on Rob.
Nice weather last weekend too, unlike today when I've been cleaning out gutters in the pouring rain!
I got quite a few shots on the day, the camera was never out of my hand!

This was taken from my campground at Mt. Rainier. Didn't have alot of color so thought I'd try it as a B&W. C&C always helpful.

    Good stuff Donald

Just wondering if you've ever considered resampling shots like that into something more panoramic? (eg 2:1 aspect ratio) - images like that often tolerate it VERY well.

Clever how you lined the top with the side. Does -1EV mean it is on some sort of automatic, I only use manual unless I'm just messing around with the birds. I would have chosen about 1/250 @f8 to ensure I didn't reach luminance diffraction limits but I don't know what that limit is in a D300s.
What does the place look like in real life, where is it?

Steve, You may find manual best for glamour photography, keeps your mind off the obvious.

There are some outstanding B/W images in this thread but I will chuck one in anyway

    Steve,
The location is Stowe Landscape gardens in Buckinghamshire. Its a National Trust property which you can Google and has a good website with maps and panoramas.
    http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main...owegardens.htm
I had the camera set to -1EV to compensate for the graduated ND filter, even though it was removed when I took the shot! Thanks to the full frame viewfinder I was able to line the shot up to prevent the need for any cropping later. I liked the way the lines worked and the way the light varied on each of the columns.
