    Man eating apple

Taken a couple of years ago in Kensington here in Toronto.
This is John, a very interesting and eclectic fellow who lives in the market. A Renaissance Man of many talents, I often see him as I walk through the streets and I always stop and chat when we meet.
This was a grab-candid taken while he and a group of his friends were just sitting together and enjoying the day, and each other. Converted to black and white in Photoshop
    motorized Nikon F2AS
Tamron SP 35~105 2.8 AIS manual focus
    Fuji 100 ISO colour slide

Wonderful handling of a harsh light situation. And I think the decision to go in tight and compose it as you have, works wonderfully.

I was going to make a Walter White (Breaking Bad) reference but since you know him I won't. Nicely captured.

This is a very strong portrait, and as Donald notes, it was really tough light.

If it were mine I'd probably clone out that slither of light under his eye, but then I shoot digital and I realise any changes you made would only apply to the digital presentation of the image.

Not sure about this one, what was your focal length, seems like you took it from quite far away.

    Thanks all, for the comments.
    Matt,
Best I can say is the focal length was somewhere between 35 and 105 mm, (because there is no EXIF data), but my guess would be about 105.
And no, the shot wasn't taken from any great distance. John was part of a group and I was close enough to zoom in and out to either get the interactions between members of the group, or isolate individuals.
