    Sunrise over Belfast.

I got up early this morning and went to the top of the Cave hill to try and get a few sunrise shots. There was not very much clouds in the sky which made the light kind of harsh but I think I got a few keepers. As always any and all C&C welcome

    Sunrise over Belfast.

    Sunrise over Belfast.

    Sunrise over Belfast.

Please let me know what you guys think?

    Chris, Chris, Chris,

Why oh, why did you post these?

    They are awful....

    ...ly hard to choose between

No seriously, I have been flicking between them all in LyteBox and cannot pick a favourite; each has its merits.

    Well done, Dave

Nice series, especially the third with the golden light spritzed throughout the composition.

My preference falls to shot number 2 for balance reasons (foreground/mid/background all well represented).

These all contain great framing and lovely colors.

These are all great Chris - but I particularly like #3 for that light across the scene. It's stunning! I would clone out the post in the foreground though.

Nice light in the last one, well captured. Agree about getting rid of the posts.

They all look amazing. The second and third are my favorites, especially the third. The golden light spread across the scene got me.

I like them all and really have no preferences among the three.

    Re: Sunrise over Belfast.

The third one is an immediate favorite for me for all the reasons already mentioned. Very, very well done!

There is a bit of a sharpening halo along the top of the rock formation on the right. Perhaps it's not there in your full-size image and became apparent only when you sharpened for downsized display on the Internet.

If the image was mine, I wouldn't remove the posts. If you do decide to remove them, be sure to also remove the wire attached to them.

Really a nice set. I like the third one for the off-centered sun and the more dramatic looking landscape. Nicely done.

Now that you mention it i see the halo. Ill re-edit and try and remove. Thanks for looking

Thank you Ernie, Richard Dan and Binnur for looking. I will try one with the posts removed but like Mike I too would prefer not to remove them. I will try and compare them. Thanks again.

Very nice, I really like the 3rd one because it gives much more landscape and context to that scene. I just feel I know more about the landscape than in the others.

No.3 is really nice Chris. The scene looks like it is worth exploiting at sunrise at different times of the year as sunrise moves around. Detail in the foreground is really important here and the early morning dampness gives it a nice sparkle. I would have a look at levelling the horizon - maybe I'm being fussy but the image merits it.

Excellent shots, Chris...no push nor pull to like any particular one. Sunrises are the most beautiful for me and would bother waking up very early to take some shots like these...Love the colours -- but I bet it was cold when you took these... Warm up with a toddy au lait..

    Re: Sunrise over Belfast.

For me they get progressively better. The post does not worry me but you do need be careful about the sharpening or auto mask errors that have introduced a fine bright line visible on the top of the right-hand peak in the last shot. If it is the result of sharpening you need to reduce the pixel width selected. Correcting the slight barrel lens distortion to make a flatter horizon would be beneficial. I know the earth is round but it just seems a bit excessive. What software are you using?

Very dramatic lighting and handled very well considering the dynamic range in the scenes.
