Well that's just literally perfect.
I think the tighter crop works fine for this little beautiful lady
Is this your daughter, Dean..pretty little girl...
Dean, I'm no portrait shooter but for me the original subject and framing has a magic to it that the tighter crop and grittiness has absolutely ruined.
this is a beautiful portrait of a beautiful child, well done. I think it could work with a number of different crops - my personal preference would be to crop from the left but leave the right side intact, to remove her from the centre of the image but maintain the framing with the lillypads - but the subject shines wherever you put her in the frame.
Thanks Julian, Richard, Binur, Izzie, Grahame & Simon
Izzie, Yes she's my daughter
Richard, I did do a few shots with an 85 with tighter crop and I will find time to post it soon.
Grahame, that's why I love 35mm for environmental portrait .
You got a good model there with your kid and beautiful wife.
You will find it is easier to just shoot without "modeling" them or asking them to pose. With a beautiful family like that, you should be taking impromptu shot...just a thought.
