Sunset

The IQ is not that good , because I forgot my ISO setting at 400 , I had to push the dehaze, clarity and structure sliders aggresively because of the hazy weather and I had to use my Canon 1100D which has a smaller sensor size because my Canon 70D was at the Canon Service for some maintenance .

But I still like the scene very much.

Beautiful colours Binnur - at the size you have presented the image, there are no issues with noise that I can see (although this may change at larger sizes I guess).

Lovely scene. Simpel, but at good composition. Great light.
Though I the colors is a bit too saturated for my taste, and the shadows too dark for my taste. But overall a good picture. Keep up the good work. :-)

You say you had too use "dehaze, clarity and structure sliders aggressively". This makes me curious too see the original capture. Is that a possibility? :-)

Thank you for the nice words Simon . Actually the noise didn't cause much trouble but dehaze ,clarity and structure sliders caused some artifacts. They are not very noticeable but because I know that they are there , I would like them not to be there

Hi Jim. Actually there were at least 30 people enjoying this scene and drinking wine while I was shooting. This is a well known place to watch the setting sun and people usually go there with their bottles of wines and wine glasses. I'm glad that the scene conveys the same feelings for you

Great texture in the rock and water! I also like the crisscross pattern in the clouds.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the post-processing issues you encountered would also have been encountered at ISO 100. That's because I believe a lot more is typically made of the case for using the base ISO than is true when it comes to practical applications. Having said that, I also would always try to shoot a scene like this at the base ISO because doing so couldn't be harmful.

If it was hazy you did a really good job with PP. It's really a lovely scene and the clouds cooperated with you by giving a line pointing at the sunset. And just enough of the cliff to give a sense of the place and add some dramatic interest. It's not easy to make an interesting image with so much sea and sky but you pulled it off. Really nicely done.

Thank you for looking and commenting, I'm glad that you are happy with the image generally The original image is actually brighter but pushing the dehaze and clarity sliders caused some loss of detail in the shadows. I might have worked that part as a seperate layer and brush out the very dark parts but I actually didn't bother myself very much because I wasn't happy with the IQ anyway.Even so I lifted the shadows just a little bit for you on the JPG image and I think it looks better.I didn't want to do more because the details on the rocks become a distraction then. You might find the colors better now because opening up the shadows reduced the color contrast a bit and the colors don't look as strong as before although I haven't changed the saturation at all in my edit. BTW I must tell you that I'm a person who likes strong colors . I upload my images to Flickr and I have been invited to some groups there which have nice images with strong colors . I'm happy with the faves my images are getting there. So , I agree with you that it is all about one's taste

I have uploaded my second edit and the SOOC raw image (resized and saved as JPG) for you.

Thank you Mike , I'm glad that you like the image There were three girls sitting very close to me , drinking wine and talking about their boy friends all the time while I was trying to shoot the scene. I got really distracted by their talks and forgot to lower the ISO But you are right that the PP issues are because of the dehaze and clarity sliders rather than the noise.

Most people make the mistake of getting fixated on the sun during sunrises/sunsets. Often looking around a bit reveals much better opportunities for interesting images. As you proved here. Love your work. Keep clickin'

You are lucky to have some decent foreground to include, something that's very hard to find here other than people

Thank you Chris Yes there were a few people down there although most people were up and around me. I shot this image on a small touristic island near where I live and usually tourists go to this particular place on the island to watch the setting sun. I think a few of them were quite curious and adventurous that they found the way to get down and enjoyed the scene from a different angle.Well, I might try the same thing next time as I like adrenaline too

Thank you Grahame Actually I have a foreground problem for my sunset shots too as people don't keep the shores very clean in Turkey . A lot of plastic bags and cans Crowds cause problems too especially on beaches . So I keep looking for some secluded places to shoot
