Moonlit tower - photoshop practice, very much digital art.

I took a quite uninteresting snap of a building along the banks of the Thames at the weekend. It was destined for the bin except I wanted to see how my photoshop skills had developed. What if I could turn this into a moonlit scene, despite being taken on a Sunday afternoon in May. How successful have I been?

I know for many of you this is no longer photography - in this case I'd agree, but the purpose of the image was to turn it into something it was not. I certainly don't do this to all my images, but it was interesting to see how far I could push my limited skills whilst still retaining a believable scene.

and me, Simon...My only complaint is that your light is too bright that you lost the shape of the bush at the left side and the grass did not translate well -- looks like an artificial carpet. The original photo looks it needs a little bit of transforming (look at the left hand side of the building...) I would like to add that you also lost the very tip of the building but that is very minor. Good job. I think I saw that tutorial in PHlearn...you did very well...

Izzie - you are right in all you say, the grass in particular has gone awry. I chose to clone out the lightning conductor at the top on the edit as I couldn't seem to get the light right on such a narrow object. The original image is practically sooc, and is only here for illustration purposes.

Also to say about 3 months ago I felt I'd reached a solid skill Base with Lightroom, and was starting to itch to get better in PS. When I first started using it for edits I was frustrated as there was so much to learn, but over the time I've become more and more confident. The Phlearn videos (and others) have certainly helped, but practice and more practice is key!
