Me too.
If there's nothing to 'balance' the subject (in the composition) and the subject is not 'facing' one way or the other (e.g. left or right), then the "don't shoot the subject in the centre of frame" rule/advice becomes irrelevant (to my mind).

Sometimes a centrally positioned subject works and it works here mainly because the flower is positioned so high.

I like it too I have no problem with the image being central but IMO it might look better if you reduce the empty space a bit on both sides.
The crop looks nice Brian May I ask why you didn't include the bottom part of the flower in the frame while shooting ?
