    Botanica

A little while ago my wife did a Botanical watercolour painting course and I decided I would like to try to do a set of images in that style.

It should be said that I am not trying to duplicate the fantastic artwork that Botanical artists do but rather I am wanting to create a set of images in a similar design that compliments that style of art. I have done 4 now, at some point I will perfect the style I want and the post production process to allow me to duplicate the look across multiple plants/flowers and then see about displaying them somewhere. At the moment this is work in progress but I think I am getting to where I want it to be.

This is Geranium robertianum, common name Herb Robert

    Botanica

    C & C welcome

Thank you Binnur, not sure yet - I am looking at wild flowers as they come into season so it will be whatever next come into flower that I can get a nice specimen of.

    Re: Botanica

Thank you Dave, appreciated. The capture set up is still a bit heath robinson and some PP is still required, my goal is no pp in any real sense to allow simple and consistent duplication, but I am not too far off

I like the neatness of this... Excellent composition. I thought you were meaning to replicate watercolour so that you can show your wife that you need not play with tubes of them and yet be able to produce her artwork. Oh well...I have to read closely. Well done.

Nice Mark, but be warned, this can be very addictif, but I guess you know this already..

Are you planning to include flowers in detail, buds, seedheads, seeds, upper & reverse side off the leaves .....??

I wonder what your setup is for this shots, iff I may ask ??

    Re: Botanica

Thanks Izzie, would not dream of telling her to not bother with the paints - i know my health and safety rules !

Rudi, its all a bit heath robinson at the moment, so would rather not at the moment once it is settled without re-arranging half the livingroom i will. It does have the limitations of not having the full season to capture the life cycle for most flowers so probably not to be honest, if painting you can do it in stages through the lifecycle - i guess you can do it via layers in photoshop but not going there although i may try a few later to see if that works. Oh dear it just got (more) complicated

    Binnur, your question is answered

It was a warm day today and the Meconopsis cambrica, Welsh Poppy opened, I could not resist - especially as its a bold golden yellow - not the easiest to light and capture / process well. Strange, there appear to be angled bars on the image at the corners - when viewed here - back to the drawing board for the process it would appear

This one below is pretty too...I am liking your project. Very neat. Not really aethetically neat, but neat, neat...I do not know what it involved but it looks simple from here. I bet it is not...

P.S. I supposed you felt the frying pan at the back of your head before. It is health hazard touching what is not yours, even for curiousity sake, like asking "what is this for?"
