Leaf skeleton
Japanese beetles love the linden tree in our yard. By late summer, the ground is covered with leaf skeletons like this one. I collected a number last year as a subject for some macro work. I combined the image with some backgrounds I recently purchased. Experiments in blend modes and other techniques yielded this result. Comments welcome.

Re: Leaf skeleton
Nicely captured image. Have you considered reducing the brightness of the background a TAD? This should bring more attention to the leaf skeleton...

Re: Leaf skeleton
Very nice. I agree with Richard's suggestion. The contrast with a darker background would make the patterns stand out even more.

Re: Leaf skeleton
I think that this version is a bit better. You didn't go overboard with the background, just enough to draw a heavier distinction with the brownish colored leaf skeleton.

Re: Leaf skeleton
I've gathered quite a few of these in the past and stored them in a box for my artwork...I think photographing them is a good idea. Thanks for the inspiration.

Re: Leaf skeleton
Hi Paul I'm afraid I prefer the original image The dead leaf looks very 'lively' in the second version and I like the dead look of it in the first image.

Re: Leaf skeleton
Very nice! I like the second one the best. The colors are a little more vibrant in the leaf.
