    Vast Landscapes

    The Fish River Canyon.

Depending on how you measure, this is the second largest canyon in the world - The Grand Canyon claims top spot. If I was 30 years younger I would undertake the 5 day trek (no way out) along it, but at my age contented myself on enjoying the vast landscape of the canyon and its surrounds both at sunrise and sunset.

Here is a very tiny selection of the many images I took - I hope you enjoy and get a feel of the scale of this landscape

3 No sky, just canyon - does it work ?

Nice series, I think the "no sky" works but might benefit from a bit more crop at top to remove the hazy area.

They all work for me, Kaye.

That foreground bush in #1 gives a nice sense of scale and perspective.

In some ways I prefer the tighter scene of #3 over #2. Somehow that angle gives a greater depth of scale between the peaks and river bed.

The last one is a classic shot which has a good perspective effect.

Thanks all. Our trip was a joy - with scenery like this, it makes the photographers job easier.
